Kilauea advice needed please!

Thanks for the comprehensive advice!

I think, if I can realise that sort of cash from my bike I will sell it and start again with a new bike.

Heresy I hear you say! Well, perhaps, but someone else will benefit who might actually ride the thing!

Off to the classifieds for me....

Put it up on the for sale forum, at least one of us will have a chance, and no ebay fees to pay ;)

Looking forward to seeing pictures of the 'Killa'

Well, I have decided to keep the old girl and experiment with stem length and angles.

If I can get an aheadset steerer tube I'll do that, otherwise it will be a quil adaptor.

Went for my first ride in a LONG time today and came home with a stiff neck and an aching back and that was after only a 40 minute ride on the flat(ish) on the road.

As promised, here are some pictures, straight from the shed so no flaming for the amount of crud adorning all the shiny bits!

It's not the mud you'll get flamed for. I'm all for that.
The bull horns you've created though. Well that's another thing entirely.

Stiff neck etc. Always going to happen when you start to use muscles again

Either find a 15+degree stem to bring the front up but to stop the ass over tit feeling.

But you may want to get a picture of you sat, in riding position, properly on the bike so we can really see what's going on. Plenty here will know what will be wrong from that (hopefully) and advise you to keep costs down.

You'll probably get people modern position thinking and some good old retro position thinking though.

Got me while I was adding some edits above. But apparently even having retro bar ends will not help your street cred
;)

OK, so finally got around to getting SWMBO to take a couple of shots of my fat @rse on the bike. No chin counting thankyouverymuch!

Opinions on how to improve my riding position would be most appreciated.

It looks a comfortable posture to me.

A size 20 would be half an inch longer and three quarters of an inch higher in the head tube.

Anybody who can spot the improvement in posture that half an inch difference would make has got much better eyes than me, I must say.
