Hydraulic lines, cartridge bearings, UST, suspension.....they have no idea the nightmares that we had to endure.......

Classic excuses for been late for spins....

'I'll be a little late, I have to..........'

........change my brake cables
........file my canti pads, they are catching under the rim
........go to my mates and borrow 1 1/4 headset spanner
........unseize my quill stem with a hammer
........regrease my BB, open BB lockring with hammer and chisel
........change f brake cable, it fell of internal roller in stem and snapped!
........fix a puncture (pre UST)
........drill holes in my crank to make it lighter
........by new cranks (see above)
........go to hospital, my foot came out of the toe clip
........go to dentist, my fillings came out on that rough descent
........go to hardware shop and buy my Dad new chisel

Whats a UST tube

UST tyre.. ie tubeless. i'm still resisting as its still not perfect, tyres can "burp" & leak air under v.hard impacts as well as other issues.

certainly the modern generation never had it so good.

Even some newies give the same grief , i had a isis bb in my Giant trance and to say it was a bagofshite was a under statment so i changed it for a so called better one in the range which cost £45 , it lasted 3 weeks of general riding got it changed on warrenty and the new one lasted for 5 weeks. Ifound some reviews on them and it basicly every one said they were shite. So i ended up routing in me shed found a old XT chainset and a bb i got about 10 years ago popped them on and i've had 6 mounths of happy riding and lets be hounest our summers been pants. It also cost me £35 in tooling to remove the isis bb as my crank extracter did'nt work with the oversized crank's

Yep I remeber the days circa1990 with my new (secondhand) Pine Mountain (orange forks) rattling and bumping my way up and down the Peak District with the Manchester University Mountainbike Club. Really miss those days, I have to say I have more mechanicals these days with the new stuff, nothing ever went wrong with my Pine Mountain and I mean nothing! In the two years I had it. Weird! Progress!?
