Next up, job for January.
I always wanted one of the pink and blue KHS Montañas when I was younger, dont know why, they just seemed pretty cool.
I saw this Yellow/Red Montaña Team 1996 frame come up for a good price and was drawn to it, seized seatpost and all, so I took a punt.
My initial thought was to experiment with a rasta-coloured rattle can respray and have a bit of a mess about but, I've since learned this may be quite an unusual colour scheme so think it will stay, dings, chips chainsuck and all...
Whatever happens, i definitely want this to be a daily rider and something i may occasionally leave locked up in public, so will be going for a nice build, but nothing too shiny or expensive. So far I've bought blue "Jagwire" brake and gear cables for a bit of bling from ebay for £15, Kalloy SP248 seatpost for £17 and a bottle of vinegar to chemically release the seatpost for 79p... Frame was £30. XT m737 front and rear mechs i already have in the box of bits, and we go from there.....
If I can do so within my cheap and cheerful approach, I'll try and find some original bits, eg Avid Speed Dial 1.9 levers, XT v brakes ( i have one, need another)....
Thanks for watching...
