Is it just Me or is the Kettler Strato Alu Rad ahead of its time, the more i research the more i realise that there is so little info out there.
1982 with All Aluminum frame 9kg all in, the frame is welded at the bottom bracket all the other joints are hot epoxy, the three main tubes are Aerodynamic with a teardrop cross section.
The rear break cable goes through the frame (who was doing that in 82) Its full Shimano 600ax and all of that was designed to be as aerodynamic as possible. even the seat stem is aero. It came with original Nitto Aerodynamic bars. So that's a lot of racing features that to me seem to be ahead of there time but did they ever race.
I have taken it out for a few rides now and i have to say im really impressed. Its very responsive and stiffer than i would have imagined as im not that light (99kg) I have not used the early 80s Shimano 600ax set up before but again pleasantly surprised, the attention to detail on all of the aero components is amazing.
There has to be a but and sadly for me its just to big, can i find a smaller one... no but maybe you have one in your sheed next to the Rocking Horse poo.
