Give Vern his due, he does know a nice trail when he rolls across one! 
Looks like a belting day out, all important ingrAdients present and correct, was there a bike of the ride? Really like the blue Muddy Fox
I ended up taking a train out to Hope and riding back on some more of Vern's trails - Jaggers Clough, Chapel Gate - which I nailed with no dabs and have felt like king of the world ever since - Rushup Edge, Roych Clough, down the campsite descent into Hayfield and finally rolled into New Mills Beer Festival (where my bike's still abandoned!), so was with you in spirit...
