***KARMA*** - GT Borrego frame - now given away - thanks!

Ok, I'm giving away my 1993 GT Borrego frame. I've been treated rather well on this little forum, and want to give a little back.

I bought this to do up myself as I love how the GT's ride, but I'm a bit of a paint tart. I love a great paint job but the one on this bike has suffered a bit. I don't think its "tatty" yet but it has a few scrapes on it, looks like from poor storage more than anything. I can't afford to give it a proper paint job unfortunately.

It was originally specced with Suntour XC Expert so it's not a bog standard GT steel frame.

18" size, will include stem but NOT the forks which I need for something else. I will also include the proper GT seatclamp. Needs 1.1/8th forks/headset and a 26.8mm seatpin. If you need a BB i'll include one as well.

All I'm asking for is the postage cost (£15 max in UK) - if you live in W Yorks I will deliver it to you free of charge as long as I don't have to travel too far... ;-)

So how do you get it?

All I want you to do is describe what you are going to do with it and why you'd like it. I'm not doing a random number raffle, I'm just going to choose who I want it to go to.

I'll make a decision later this week.

Hi There

I almost don't feel qualified to be pitching in for this one, as I am a real newbie, and am currently on my first build.

The build in question is a GT Tempest, that I am building up as a daily commuter, I am lucky enough to be able to do a bit off off roading on my way in!

The reason that I thought I would place my request is that I have really got in to GT bikes whilst doing my current build, and as nice as it will be to finish the current project, there will be a hole in my life that could happily be filled bringing another GT back to life!

My plan for this bike would be simple, During the process of the GT Tempest that I am currently building, the thought occured that it was a shame that I was fitting non original parts, and in some way not being true to the history of the bike. I also feel a bit guilty about stripping off all the paint and polishing the frame, even though it looks great! So in return for your kind donation, I would hope to earn some GT karma myself, by resurrecting this frame, continuing and learning about GT bikes, and giving me something to do as well!

So if you fancy seeing this being returned to original condition at some point in the future, perhaps you could could consider me as a worthy recipient...

I'd like to be considered please chap. My reasoning is simple, i have never ridden a steel framed GT and would love to have the chance to get to know one intimately. Its all well and good borrowing one for a day but its just not the same as riding it regularly. To "pay it forwards" i would also then karma a scott windriver frame i have tucked away in the same way as you have and hopefully we can then start a little round robin of frame karma (maybe with the stipulation that it can only go to someone that has never ridden that brand of frame before?) and get people experiencing the variety of retro frames out there.

My current GT build is a bit small for me so I would swop all the parts over onto this one and I could meet up with as I'm not far from you.

Very generous of you Rob. Not my cup of tea, so 'I'm out' as they say, but if you ever decide to give away a smallish Explosif, please keep me in mind.

I'm sure any of those interested will make a lovely steed out of it.

I'm booked in for a procedure which clamps the hips and gently pulls the feet, all the while stimulating the leg muscles with 750 volts of electricity, which has been found to promote elongation in muscle fibres. The bones are simply broken later, doner bones are taken from specially bred monkeys and cut to size to extend the legs to the length of the newly stretched muscle.

All so I can fit on an 18" GT instead of a 16" one.

Hi rob. sound very kind of you to pass this on so i'd like to stick my hand up for it.

I've had a couple of GTs back in my teens so ended up buying a 94 timberline on ebay back in january and love it. It has been stripped and recondioned. I have now done over 1500 miles on it and am now doing 80 miles a week rain or shine. however it is a 16" and feels a little cramped so would like to move up to a 18" so to carry on knocking the miles out. want to hit 4000 next year! I've been searching for ages for a frame, but only the higher end ones with the higher end price tags seem to come up! please end my searching!! thanks
