..its a shame when we decide to sell that much loved 'first MTB' or first 'Race Bike'...

I couldnt imagine flogging the grass roots of an obsession!?? :?

i bet many go on to regret it....my first proper mtb went under a lorry, and was mangled.....it was my first question when i came round in the back of an ambulance with my right leg pointing backwards (and upwards a bit).....i still miss the old girl!...

My first proper mtb was knicked so no chance of ever seeing that again  Full deore lx first year of the all black set, flite saddle and all other blingy bits.  God I loved that bike I was physically sick when I discovered it nicked.

Still lucky enough to have mine; doing a leisurely rebuild on her. :) Felt weird first time I put wheels back on and could actually sit on it properly.

My first mountain bike was a 'dodgy' Saracen Tufftracks. I sold it to a guy locally.

The one I do miss, was my second bike, which was a Dawes, I think it was a One Track, as I couldn't afford an Edge. That was a cracking bike, sold it to a guy my height, but at least five stone heavier than me, so I expect the frame finally collapsed.

I can only agree.

Like poweredbypies, my first proper mountain bike was stolen. Black 1992 Cinder Cone, I'd changed all sorts of bits on it but they were all black, Club Roost flat bars, X-Lite bar ends, Flite titanium saddle, black DCD... It was locked up with two Kryptonite D-locks under a CCTV camera next to the area out front of a hospital where patients went to smoke - the thief spent 15 minutes picking the locks and nobody stopped or even approached him!

Needless to say, I was absolutely gutted when that went. It had taken me a long time to save up for it, and it was a long time before it was replaced.

Yep, I still miss my Clockwork. Kept it for 14 years or so only to sell it a couple of months before I found this place. :(

Agree but needs must. The wallet doesn't always stretch :( But thanks to e-bay & sites like this you can get back what you sold.
