Justice?

My position is this:

I don't believe in the death penalty. I don't think that any society should kill its citizens, no matter what their crime is. I am fundamentally opposed to it as a principle. I understand the economic, punishment and deterrent arguments but feel the principle is more important than any of those things.
It is what separates us from these killers and rapists.

However, I feel no sorrow for this person and agree that the world is better without them. I am not going to waste my time worrying about them, he chose his path and it led to this.
Nor am I going to waste my time worrying too hard about people on death row etc. I don't think we should kill them, but I ain't going out of my way to try to save them!

As we become more atuned to ourselves does our sentience grow and along with it empathy?

Didnt the little girl die because of fat entering here bloodstream due to fractured legs? A real shame, stuff like that hits home.

watching trev mcd on the documentary he made visiting death row, it came apparent that going through the 13 different levels of appeal usa inmates on x-row have, (thats what they called death row) afforded the perpertrators around a 20 year stay of execution even though one of them said he deserves to die for what he did but is still going through the appeal system.
I dont agree with murder but this animal had it coming and the 2 that did it probably did someone a favour, they have nothing to lose nothing to gain and time/nonces to kill

There looks to be a bit of statistical jiggery-pokery going on to get a desired headline - look at who commissioned the survey, and for what program it was to be used in.

If you look at the tables of data (not the "headline"), only two offences actually registered above 50%; adult murder (51%) and child murder (62%). So whilst they can claim 70%, it would appear that there is not a consensus on what offences should carry it as the ultimate sanction.

The actual question asked is interesting as well (their capitals, not mine): "IN YOUR OPINION, WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING CRIMES, IF ANY, DO YOU THINK THE UK SHOULD STILL HAVE THE DEATH PENALTY FOR AS THE MAXIMUM POSSIBLE PENALTY?" . Normally if I ask a question of the form, "should we still have this", it's about something we already have, and I'm asking whether we should maintain it, not should we start (or re-start) doing it.

He would have been out in 20ish years, in his 40s. He really doesnt deserve a life.
