Just brought these and oww yeah ebay problem am i wrong

The postage issue is a non-starter, the price and timescale was there for you to see. If they turned up within the stated time and the packaging stopped them getting damaged in transit then you have exactly no grounds for complaint.

You might have a point on the condition of the shifters, but if i'd have received your email to the seller I doubt i'd have been inclined to meet you half way. Perhaps with a more diplomatic, less confrontational tone you would have got a better response?

postage is always stated before you buy, so i don't really accept that one...the reason people charge excessive postage is that you don't pay ebay a percentage on the postage costs.

I list stuff at 99p plus high postage a lot of the time, it's not an attempt to trick the buyers...it's an attempt to avoid the ridiculous fees on ebay.

I kindof expect people to read the postage costs and i do write it very clearly in all the adverts...anyway i think the guy sounds pretty reasonable, ask him for a partial refund as he has already accepted that he has overcharged you on postage.

I think a negative feedback would just be petty.

The fees aren't ridiculous. Compare them to how much it used to be to list a classified ad and then compare that to the audience that you reach via eBay.

Also, it is fact that if you charge high postage you sell your items for less.

The issue is the fact that you are charged to list (usually., unless you wait for a free listing weekend), then charged a percentage of the sale price (not aware that happens with classified ads) then charged again by paypal if you choose to use that route for payment.
Ebay know that most people now sell second hand items via their marketplace and exploit the fact. I use them far less for selling now, because I think the fees are ridiculous.
