Sorry,

But you bought these knowing the postage costs

I dont see why you are going to leave him neg

He has replied courteously (sp) and with (what seems to me) a pretty reasonable answer

The lad sounds straight up to me

Fair enough he never sent the cables, but he's gonna

If he doesnt, then moan, but did he list them with the cables??

G
They're listed as "New". Even his desciption of having been "used once" doesn't alter the fact that being descibed as "New" they could be expected to be in "as new" condition, not used once (for how long?) in muddy conditions. Postage cost is irrelevant; it's just one of the things you'ld ,let slide if you were otherwise happy. If you're not, it's just salt in the wound.

too true its the fact they have been more than used one as they where full of grit and crap and they had sweat stains you know that salty waxy stuff (no need for dirty remarks to that guys) its just annoying

Send em back

Get a refund, wait on them being re-listed cheaper

Or buy new from a shop

G

probably the best way

if you are genuinely not happy with them return them for a refund

So

Morning after and hopefully a bit calmer without people goading you on... Did you leave a neg or send an email?

If not can I offer something fir consideration?

Perhaps if you were now to message him along the lines of ... Your disappointment was that the item was listed as new and it clearly wasn't and added to that the postage was nearly three times the actual cost, you feel it would not be unreasonable to send them back for a full refund

But also offer... should a refund of the postage cost be considered then this you feel would bring the matter to a close given they were in fact used and not new..... Something along those lines anyway

just woke up to another ebay problem with rustymtb order some halo red alu nipples and they never arrived but thats another post completely

In all honesty if it were just the postage you were pisses at and I were the seller I'd tell you to do one as you agreed to paythe quoted cost when you entered a bid.

The fact he says they were new but then says used once is a mute point and can be debated. The fact they are full of dirt is only circumstantial evidence that they have been used for longer and doesn't rule out his story of a muddy ride.

I think damaging some ones feedback over this is daft. If you don't like them you should of returned them as they were. Your claim would have been reasonable. To clean them and then demand postage back is in my mind unreasonable as you did not give the seller the opportunity to refund and accept a return.

That's true - assuming that you're getting quality of postage commensurate with the cost. Decently and cleanly packed, at the agreed class of postage is one thing, but as I've mentioned before, top-dollar costs and scabby packaging, is a bit, well, rough.

To my mind, new doesn't mean used - and used for a ride where they got dirty and contaminated.

If they'd merely been mounted on a bike, with perhaps the odd mark based on that, a bit of leeway could be given, but using them for a ride, and them being dirty and needing cleaning is most certainly not new.

Well in fairness, surely feedback should accurately reflect feelings on the deal - rather than being overly-sensitive as to it's implications on the sellers feedback rating. Sometimes it seems that's more important than any other aspect of feedback.

From all that's been written, here, they appear to be wrongly described - charged high postage rates for bottom drawer packaging, and missing cables that the auction page said would be with them.

Now surely some of that deserves some redress - but I'd also agree, once moved on to cleaning them up, and essentially accepting them you limit your options. After that, it comes down to seller's attitude regarding the incongruences with how they were advertised, sent, and their condition - and without some penitence and at least an effort to redress this from the seller, think about what feedback accurately and fairly describes your perception of the deal.

i think that if you are unhappy enough to want to leave negative feedback you should have asked for a full refund and returned them. if he refused then launch a paypal dispute. it would have been guaranteed in your favour.

i sell a fair bit on ebay and it really annoys me when people complain but when I offer a full refund they actually want to keep the stuff. So it cant have been that bad.

I realise you have spent the time cleaning them but you should have requested the refund first.

as for the postage, he clearly stated what it was - dont see you have any grounds for complaint really
