Doesn't get more dead end than two wheel drive:
oneschnark's Progear 1995

besides, I think this is the second time it's been entered, and I don't want to see it again ;) :D

Went for Kirk - forged magnesium. Then I remembered there's a current forged Al bike.

The Lati and the Progear almost got my vote, but neither really made it into wideish production and I think the two-wheel drive is still in production.

The Nishiki and Xizang, in my opinion, are good ideas for a hard-tail.

I found this a toughy, as some of those 'dead ends' have since been adapted and used today. In the true spirit of evolution, some of these accidents have stuck with us, In the end I went with the Progear.

(Although I don't recall Bianchi trialling a chainless drive system).

 yes, rusty chain omitted so to not distract the observers' eye from such a classic frame design and, bespoke u-brake unit. :)

John, think this picture shows the 'dead end' of the Laïti more clearly

In this day and age, it's depressing how often one has to endure grown men uttering the words skinny Latte without shame. So all the better to be able to shout about an old school full-fat Laiti.

That F16 is very tasty though ....
