Mavic stuff looks so nice. The cranks always remind me of Big Mig churning the things in the TT to another tour victory.

These are my favourite Mavic cranks, the later 631/2 model. You can run a smaller big ring on them: 44t minimum, as opposed to 48t on the original 631.

One of these days I may try for the "Tout MAVIC" build, but those cranks are destined for a novel half-step-and-granny experiment. The rings are TA: 44, 41 and currently a 32 that will probably get swapped for a 28 or 30.

One really nice thing about these 631 series cranks is that you can remove the double chainring mountings and bolt a single ring straight to the back of the spider. Mount them on a Chorus or Record 102mm bottom bracket and you've got a super-low-profile track crank.

AHH, I did not see that you could do that. That is sweet. I cant wait to rebuild that cannondale.

Put the double mounts back, and with either the Mavic triple adapter or a TA adapter chainring, you've got a low-Q triple. This one's set up to run like a 2x9, with the outer chainring added to half-step an 11-32 cassette.
