As somebody who only ever buys on ebay, I find it really irritating to read about a buyer who effectively buys the wrong thing, then tries it on, a 101 ways to try and make it the sellers fault.
I once bought some injectors on ebay - they weren't actually the right ones for my engine. But they were perfectly as described, and the fault / assumption was mine. I didn't mention a word of this to the seller, because they'd done nothing wrong, and left them positive feedback as a result.
I kept them and later gave them away as a karma thing, some time later.
On the other hand, I bought another set of injectors, and got sent some that totally didn't match the description (different colour and make than were advertised). When I contacted the seller (who's feedback did indicate he wasn't exactly customer friendly), they were argumentative and difficult about the whole thing.
My mistake was mentioning my specific engine model, as he'd advertised them for a specific engine, but described them (colour and make) completely wrongly. I knew that the colour and make was the only ones of their kind for the make of car, so if they were as advertised, they would be correct, but he kept trying to argue about me bidding wrongly for them as the engine described, wasn't the one in my car.
I found that intensely irritating, and just stuck to my guns - send me the injectors as the auction, or refund. Fortunately, he actually lived in the same town as me, and grudgingly "found" the right ones for me, but even now it still irritates me that he would try and blame me for the fact that he listed them wrongly, and effectively question what the hell was I doing bidding for some injectors that were listed for a different engine.
