I sure appreciate fine Italian bikes, but I also absolutely have a weak spot for everything fine Japanese. For everyone with a passion for fine vintage roadbikes below article is an interesting read. The article reviews the following bikes:

De Rosa - Team Miyata - Guerciotti - Fuji - Rossin - 3Rensho

I found this review while searching on the web. They are related to Cyclezine blog. Take a look overthere. There is some nice covering.

Really interesting Mel, thanks. Some of the comments - especially about the AX gruppo - make good reading. However, he chickened out on saying which bike was actually the best - I suppose they all were :D

Wouldn't mind having any of them in my shed ;)

Possibly they want you to pick your own favourite.

I only have experience with the Miyata. I know it offers a very satisfactory ride. Finishing is both refined and very durable. The reviewed bikes are 30yrs old now. What I like of old Campy over early DA is that the chrome is of superior quality. With the DA EX however, Shimano reduced the use of chrome compared to DA1. Doing so also eliminating the lesser chrome issue.

The De Rosa is a supedeluxe frame. According to the review the riding is in aspects pretty much the opposite of the Miyata. It is comfortable, but the bike shifts when you put serious power on the pedals.

A 3Rensho I have a weak spot for sure, but specced like the reviewed bike it is not my cup of tea if the bike would have been for riding. DA AX is funny kit, but the excessive use of non-metal materials, complexity, incompatibility and limited availabily of spares make it not so well suited for regular use.

The other tree bikes I do not get as much warm feelings with, but they will be great too.
