Another model I really wanted, which prompted me to write a letter to buy the wheels I mentioned before! To build something like this.I think this was my first Lego Technic probably 40 years ago. 4 cylinder reciprocating engine, a 3 speed transmission, a working rear differential, working rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, and adjustable and reclining seats (all according to http://www.technicopedia.com/8860.html). Still the best Christmas present I ever had and I wish I still had it.

That was my first Technic set too! We had the black car at my primary school.I like LEGO too, especially the sets from my childhood which I'm fortunate enough to still have. My first Technic set was this one. My dad went away on a training course and brought it back for me. Prior to that I'd had quite a few of the town sets, but this was the first 'grown up' set.

I never owned this but had an opportunity to build it once back in the mid 90's. Interesting model.
I wholeheartedly agree, my mum and dad knew they could always make me happy with Lego for my birthdays or other special occasions! After bicycles, Lego has got to be world’s best toy.
Oops, sorry!I meant the one RetroJim showed .... admittedly less black than that one, so not very specific!
Happy to be reminded of another set I had forgotten!Oops, sorry!
