It all started with this....

Besides my passion for bikes, especially GT's I also happen to love Lego, especially Lego Technic.
I got my first Lego Technic set when I was a wee lass at 9 years of age, a bright yellow forklift truck (yes I have always loved yellow as a colour from a very young age, its a very sunny colour!) Sadly my original yellow forklift truck got left behind at my parents' house when I left home and as my the very young nieces and nephews were allowed to play with my Lego parts obviously got lost or broken. So the yellow forklift truck in the 1st photo was one I bought on eBay some time ago. I didn't own the red tractor back then but bought it for myself along with the forklift truck.
All the other models I have bought over a period of time and I hope to add a few more to my collection in the future.
I have also developed a love for Lego's other ranges, like Botanicals and scenery, so no longer limited to technic only.
I always wanted the red car but never got it. I don't think it was sold out here. Does it have a v shaped engine, or am I wrong?

I sold all my Lego ten years ago and don't regret it, but I still like it. That red tractor takes me right back to the seventies. My first Lego technic was a kart. My best pieces were a motorcycle and sidecar and a white truck.

As a child I wrote a letter to a Lego distribution centre in Groningen, the Netherlands asking if I could buy the big wheels, like the ones featured on your motorbike and some other models, they ended up sending me a set of four wheels free of charge because I wanted to build a big car!
Can you imagine my amazement at receiving free technic wheels ? I must have been about 8 or 9 years of age.

That is a great story. I live 35km from Groningen.

I was born in Grootebroek, West Friesland. Moved to the UK in 1990 aged 22.
When my family moved to Bovenkarspel, (also near my place of birth) I started racing BMX in 1981 and loved GT BMX bikes, though I couldn't afford one and our local bike shop didn't have any! I got a cheap Dodsun branded 'Surfer BMX' instead as I liked the black and yellow colours. However my love for GT bikes started when other children joined our BMX club, I was a bit envious to be honest.😏

You’re not helping, the go cart was my second Technic set! 😀
I wanted so many of the sets back then but didn't get all of them. The red tractor (set 851) was one I really wanted but didn't get until much later in life. But I also wanted the blue go cart, maybe I should by that one too soon! 😁

From what I remember, the bmx racing back then was pretty fanatical. I took part in a demo race on my non bmx small wheeled bicycle and the observers from the union were not impressed with any of the kids in our village. I am also reminded of Karel van de Graaf, who presented all the racing on the tv, if you remember.

I may have seen him on tv then but can't recall it now. I did have a great time racing during the 2-3 years I raced for my local club. Very fanatical indeed!

Over the last few years I’ve slowly cleared my childhood toys as they are all mostly worth good money.

The only bits I’ve got remaining which haven’t been touched is the Lego and WWF hasbro. For some reason these hold the best memories for me.

I was a spoilt only child so many of the sets are either as new or even sealed. Pirate ships , castles , Robin Hood , etc. I’ve loads of technic too but that ain’t boxed.

Prices seem to be rising still so I’m gonna hold out a bit longer as I kinda don’t want to sell them but they are just sat in a wardrobe. Nostalgia is a strange thing isn’t it.
