It’s getting HOT in here ….

Are they both original paint?

As they are different aren’t they. Which is a good thing as it gives me scope to replicate it.
Yes, the foreground one is a '97, previously Ernies and originally imported by @Faghetaboutit way back in 2010 from memory. I coveted it for many years and imported the background one as a complete bike from the original owner in Illinois USA back in 2020 during Covid time. It is a 17" and '98 model year. Not really big enough to be a rider for me, but ticked the boxes colour wise! The '97 is a matt finish and the '98 is a gloss. Both beautiful and both original paint. The '98 was raced and had the battle scars to show for it. The '97 had led a much more pampered life and is in exceptional condition.

I don't recall a single flame job Hot or Ku that followed an exact pattern or colour match so I think you have artistic licence to do what you like if you go with this style. The Stars n Bars is a different story though!

I’ve kinda made a decision.

I want to go with the Rasta flame scheme in gloss.

However …. Do I follow the normal colour scheme or reverse the colours to make it a bit different?

This is the closest I've seen to the reverse colourway. Not sure how much I like it, especially the yellow decals on yellow but it might look better with the blue '96 graphics.

I much prefer the traditional scheme to that.

I also prefer this decal style too.

Did they do this colour with the 96 decal style?

As seen originally in the 1997 catalogue by a 16 year old me! Wanted one but saw the price and never dreamed I'd ever get one! Only took a quarter of a century!
