Is there any XL retrobike that doesn't look like a gate?

Hello I'm new to the site but have lurked for a while and I'm really impressed how friendly it is. I wonder how many people get into retrobikes so they can come and play on this site when they might not have been interested before?

Anyway, I've been into bikes since the mid 90's but have always liked the most modern stuff (although i like rigid forks, they are modern forks) and that is true today but I wonder if the combined wisdom of Retrobike could show me a good looking XL retrobike to persuade me otherwise?

Does a retrobike exist which has at least a 24" tt to fit my 6'6" frame and looks good (all the cool bikes here seem small) I would love something like a Bontrager but that's too small unless I attach a rudder length stem.

Is this possible or am I just asking for the moon on a stick?

GT's were always bigger than they looked and looked ok in gate size.

My mate is 6'7" and has a 21 Saracen thats ok. He seems to manage.

Fat Chance Yo-Eddy,
I'm 6ft 5 and ride a M/L Yo (23.3" Toptube), so a Large or XL will suit you fine I guess.
Good luck searching :D .... and welcome to the site :wink
cheers Roy :

this is my 22" Mystery titanium bike (not sure what it is - although it appears to have been badged by others as a Muddy Fox Titan Pro among other brands...). Gate? Maybe I suppose...

I also have the two frames you see in my signature - both are over 21".

The only manufacturers top-size i've ever thought were OK, was Kona.

(But even then, they ain't pretty).

I can't agree about GT, even their 19" wasn't particularly big; only the 20" (or 21"?) got the longer headtube that a proper larger size needed to remain in proportion - but, particularly on the RTS, this made them look awful.

Seems like there are some out there, I like that mystery ti and the idea of a yo eddy would be great. what is the tt length on the XL

Oh and before I get too interested, what is the chance of ever being able to get an XL frame and I can't imagine it would be cheap.

The only XL Yo that I've seen recently on Ebay went for about £440 plus postage (it was in the States)

This was it, and a pic of one built up (stock photo).

now that green yo looks fantastic, it's rivals a green dekerf for the nicest colour on a bike. I think i'm beginning to be converted to actually lusting after a retrobike, i might have to go and have a lie down
