Is it right to be scared of a bike ?

Yes, this - I was informed later that the death threats were due to poor geometry and fork rake on the part of the designer.

Might sound daft but drop the saddle an inch for the next ride then take it off, no sorry, raise it when you are happier.

it needs a shorter travel fork surely? - if the geometry's anything like the one in the pic that is

Bang on. If that is the pictured bike the OP is talking about the fork is far too long. It will fall into turns like buggery. Get it swapped for a non-suspension corrected P2 and give it another go.

For a retro ride the fork and geo looks wrong.Prolly why it's a handful to ride.

Chuck Norris could ride it. And me.

Two mayhems and two Honcs. And Madorc

Was fine. But then I'm hard.

Or you could try fitting these?

That's an unstable set up for crashing and endoing on technical trails

But each to their own. See some mad setups in my time ;)
