That "So..." thing riles me too. I hear it on Radio 4 all the time, usually from the expert who's just been asked a question by the presenter. I think it's the modern equivalent of "Erm.."

Cannot disagree with you there Mike...there are clearly some on here who just don't get out enough...perhaps a feeling of insecurity - neglected when young ?
