Not so much of a build thread as a ‘what can be changed for the better?’ thread.
So, out with these much-too-new Crosslands and a scabby M900 chainset that hints at the age of the frame:

And in with these:

I got impatient waiting for a silver front to turn up, so I stripped and polished a blue one. But that meant it didn’t really match the anodised silver rear, so I had to strip and polish that one as well. In doing so, I all but lost the logo on the rear hub (but strangely not on the front), so I etched the logo with the aid of a needle and jeweler’s eyepiece. Pretty happy with the outcome!

Some wibbly spokes I liberated from another wheelset, some nice rims & tyres and a spangly chainset. Take note of the slightly faded sidewalls on the tyres...

Going to be a nice wheelset when together, haven't seen a decent set of those rims for a while

Good work on that etching. Without anodising the hubs might oxidize quite quickly. You could rub on something like Poorboy’s Wheel Sealant which works well to stave off corrosion and retain the finish.

Good call on the sealant. Might use some on the cranks as well. Next, out with a top-swing FM-M950 and (presumably original) UN91 and in with:

Close-up pics don’t half show up minor flaws! The bottle boss gives a little clue as to the frame...

A few things were allowed to stay, stem and bars were obviously correct and the silver no-logo King stayed put.

Out with a USE suspension (shimmed!!!} seatpost and in with a 28.6mm Syncros. Grey Flite to complement the Ibis ‘Rosie’ bar ends and Mavic 217 SUP CD Ceramic rims.
