Identifying Marin bobcat trail

Retro Newbie
Hi,

I bought a Bobcat trail on ebay in a bit of a sorry state and am restoring it. Can anyone help with identifying the model year, I've trawled throught google images but can't see this model anywhere. It looks more like a later aluminium frame, but has no suspension. Also if anyone knows where i might get decals to replace the originals?

Thanks

Jez

Hi,
Thanks for that. I checked the link, but have now realised that the 10 digit code signifies its post '98.
Code is F469dsc103 so using the code, it appears in an eldridge grade frame? I found a review on Google for a 2006 Eldridge grade which looks very similar (the frame anyway) I can't post the link yet....

I appreciate I'm now not the owner of a retrobike, but if anyone thinks I'm on the right track/ barking up the wrong tree completely a nudge in the right direction would be appreciated.

O contraire lancia

Go back to the main page, then look several sections down and you will see 1998.......>>>

Just because the site is retro bike it doesn't mean you have to have a antique to join in

Welcome

having just identified a 99 marin frame i would say with some certainty that it is a 1999 Marin , and I see no reason why you would doubt what it says on the top tube, although bikepdia is saying there was no 99 bobcat i find that Bikepedia is often wrong on sizes colours spec etc, does it say bobcat trail,??? if not then its this bolinas ridge i reckon

Charlieboy,

Looks like you could be right. So not quite as modern/ high spec as I hoped. It definately has Bobcat Trail on the frame though!!!

Where did the bolinas trail fit in relative to the bobcat?

hi y lancia the bobcat for 2000 was around the same price $379 or there about, would have been about the same in english pounds too, so seems both the bolinas and bobcat are on a par really, there are probably other bikes in the range that share the same frame, but had higher spec bits and so sold for more, i just sold a palisades trail frame, which was a really nice looking frame and i was tempted to keep it which looks exaclty the same as your one, its all about how it rides really, hangs some nice bits on it and see how it goes ;)

Fluffy i will put that down to you having a hangover and a new years day blip, please dont test my faith in your encyclopedic knowledge and photographic memory of everything mtb again,

to me you are the rainman of retrobike   ;)
