Greetings all,
First (and I am sure you get this all the time) apologies as this is my first post and I am asking a question. I am reasonably informed when it comes to building bikes and to a lesser degree riding them. I regularly scour the forums should I come across something new for further information.
I have just purchased a frame to build up another bike. I like to know what I am building up. The frame looks a good quality (nothing fancy) steel lugged frame. Nice and light. It has braze on down tube, front derailleur, no mudguard fixings, a lug for the pump on the head, a strange lug on the rear derailleur stay down arm?? It is spaced at 130mm rear and appears ready for modern brakes.
The frame has been repainted quite nicely but the chap I bought it from inherited it from a deceased friend and new nothing about it. No decals but the front derailleur is attached (appear to be croce d'aune 1988-1991) with a Campy Chorus headset and 3ttt quill stem.
Anyway....My question is I cannot locate any serial number or manufacturers marks which I can identify. The only marking are on the BB which you expect, they are however unfamiliar to me.
To one side of the BB appears to be hand stamped (as in the stamping is not all aligned) this first appeared as 50G however on very close inspection is 5CG. on the other end of the BB is simply a larger font 7.
Any ideas?
