Identify my Marins please.

Retro Newbie
The blue swing arm takes a 165mm shock , has 2 sets of bottle mounts and an integrated disc mount.
The raw one has a 190 mm ,only one set of mounts and a bolt on disc mount.

Yup, the only way to be sure is with the frame numbers. My youngest daughter's bike is a Mount Vision with the same blue rear arm, 165mm shock, but it's just built of bits from several Marins. For the most part the front triangles were all the same but with different decals for each model. There are obvious differences in the frames due to size, travel etc, but I think the tubes are the same. There are also several different rear arms too, some better than others. Again I've found that the longer travel versions can have longer rear arms, not all though, with some of them the longer travel comes from a longer shock like your other Marin.

I wouldn't be too happy riding a bike with a bottle cage on the top tube like that, where do you think your 'nads will end up? Would have thought that the clearance/standover height would be severely reduced or eliminated by the cage. Jeezo, brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. ;)

I've owned a mount vision of some description since 97 and never had a mischief in the ouch department!
A bollock,stem interface wouldn't be pleasant either
Til I took the photo of them together I hadn't noticed the different swing arms. A bit of digging shows that the blue is 99 and the raw 2000.

Re:

Have you had a look on Bikepedia for Marin info? Maybe a pic from there might help you narrow it down. If both the bikes had those swing arms, air shocks from new it would help but looking at them they'll be like most bikes that age, upgradeitis will have taken over. My 2000 Cannondale Super V's frame is the only remaining original part on it. Swing arm upgraded to a Jekyll one, Headshok upgraded to a Lefty, v-brakes upgraded to Hope M4's, etc, you get the picture, I've got upgradeitis bad. RetroBike doesn't help though with this affliction. The only cure is an empty wallet.

i cant help. but i want the one on the right. that'll then only mean you need to identify 1 of your bikes :) problem halved. your welcome. :p

The one on the right is my forever bike.
Currently undergoing a mild tart up which will involve an off white powder coat if it doesn't polish up.
