Awesome Silk Ti build! How have you been enjoying the 3 x 1 gearing? Does it shift well with the friction shifter and Paul Melvin chain tensioner?

I just picked up an old Ibis mountain bike myself and am considering a similar set up...

the 3x1 shifts great. i've had the same setup on prev builds on other bikes so i already knew there wouldn't be any issues.

Sweet! Do you recall what the spindle length is on your bottom bracket? I imagine it needs to be a bit longer to give it the correct chainline....

spindle length depends on the profile of the crank arms you intend to use. for the RF turbine LPs, it's range is 107/110/113m depending on the f.mech clamp size, in this case being in the middle at 31.8mm (28.6/31.8/34.9mm), i used 110mm RF ti BB.

final build… XTR m950 levers and v-brakes, and stem/bar swap with slightly shorter stem with tad more rise and slightly wider bar, both remaining Ibis.
