Great that the stem problem sorted such easily ! I didn't notice the long topic about the stem :D.

What paint Ian you used for the 600AX hub dust caps ? Did you mixed the color by yourself ?

Just lovely, I´ve always really liked Shimano´s doomed ´80s aero groups. I think the brakes are much nicer looking than the later Campagnolo delta´s.

But why not use it with its proper pedals? You can still get nos 600 ax replacements quite easily at not much cost, even stock up on a set or two. You can save the polished ones for show.
