I need Hope...

I think ive your entire set up here.

Hubs are new though ive no internals, basically as im not sure which axle fits. Might have a 2nd lockring and ive a spare mono freehub for this set. Axles/spacers- Hopefully the other like Boxxer/Dave will have more idea :?
But i think thats all the important bits. Those rotors are the first floating rotors and unlike those today, actually do 'float'. One of the spiders and rotor, as well as the hubs is nos.

Re:

That looks interesting :)

Seems like a bit of a minefield this retro-Hope brakes thing.
So cable discs are prehistoric retro and can be retro :!: -fitted to most frame/fork combo's?
The early hydro-discs require mounts on the frame and/or fork?

Welcome to retrobike  All of its a minefield.

Not really. Nothings set, or a quick fix even and probably more so on hydraulics as you first need to find the stuff in fully working condition and with C2's a well used set may still leak at the seals even with new seals just down to being worn piston, sides etc.

A non disc frame youll need to braze on a fitting or opt for either of the hope systems if you stick with them.
Those being the No2 caliper, which youre no doubt aware of, and the same mounting system as the No2 but leaving an IS mount adaptor. OR you could put on something like an A2Z, though personally if youre going to do the job,do it right :?
For mounting either the no2 or the no2 IS-
Hubs for C2's will need a hope hub. And on the hub the axle is cut short. Which is a simple thing to do as its just hacksawn off and thats all.
PS only a rear is cut, the front mount is it sits on the axle where the spacer was.

Best talk through one step at a time ;)

Found the other lockring. Just really thee axles/spacers to identify, and if anyone has an idea there, please dont keep it to yourself .

I've seen some wheels on eBay with 5-bolt spiders on the hubs, are these a later design?

I'll try and post a pic but my phone won't let me

I see the ones you mean Jim. Those would be fine.
Email him and check the spiders come off.

Adds- Found the other lockring for the hubs :D and ive a freehub for it too. Its all correct, its all period together and the hubs are new, along with the correct sizes or rotors.

Maybe a joint effort on info from boxxer and TK on axles.Ive not seen these before so dont know. I might actually have them, but until i see an example i cant say.
Ill put the rear together in a couple of combos in the meantime and see if anything strikes as being correct.

I may have spare front an rear axles dyna, i need to check through my bags.....

Def have a 120 rear axle and a couple of fronts

Just as an aside, when did Hope sell its first cable discs ? I distinctly remember standing outside a bike shop in Keswick, Lake District in 1989 looking incredulously at a mtb with cable discs in the shop window thinking that will never catch on :D

Oh and another thing, has anyone got a Grimeca 5 arm disc rotor, I dont think they were compatible with Hope but I have a front wheel with Grimeca 5 arm disc hub but no rotor.

Re:

This is what I was looking at... I assume the spiders can simply be swapped over? (I've messaged the seller to ask this).
Looks like more modern rims, I could live with that for a while. They didn't sell and have been relisted, the BIN is rather steep for me, will just see how things go I guess.

One more question, I see how the front cable calipers fit into the fork, but how do the rears fit onto the frame?

Yes, a simple swop over on the spiders. Though from the looks of things its been relisted a few times. Im not sure if hes finishing it early :? due to lack of bids.

Rear, depends on the system. Have you decided on which you want to go for ?
I will add, ive no experience of using these cable disc systems(C2 and above only) So i think the performance will be not as good as later brakes. Its more the look.
Fitting, id say something brazed on though, this is the long drawn out bit ;) of identifying what exactly it looks like, from poor quality pics usually only showing one side, and never the side you need to see.

The kens cable disks are jubilee clipped on.......

The later hopes have bolt holes which should match to ones on the frame.....
