I love working on bikes but....

Steven, you and me both.

I have a Rourke sitting here all finished and ready to go.... except for the bar tape.

I don't mind the wrapping so much, but the figure eight around the levers confuses the stuffing out of me. I do one side, get it neat as a button, do the other side, again nice and neat and shiiiiiit, they are different.

Front mechs; easy peasy, even the SRAM yaw, in comparison to bl**dy figure of eights.

bar tape.....a doddle; setting up cone/bearing hubs......nightmare. its the setting the cones slightly loose so that they are correct when the skewers are tightened that causes the swearing.....especially the rear where even when its done the wheel still neeeds to be removed to put the freewheel back on.........

Wrapping bars as I have found out, gets easier the more you do it.
There are plenty of good guides on youtube which have helped me a lot.

Thanks every one for the words of advise. I actually am pretty good at wrapping bars I just hate it can't explain but always pu it off and Neil I agree the figurte 8 thing is the biggest pain of the whole job

Steven

Only thing that has bugged me recently is seating atb tyres perfectly on rims so there is no tyre wobble  I know all the tricks but its still a pain or maybe it's the tyres.

Probably sounds stupid but I really hate pumping up tyres with Presta/French style valves.

I learned the hard way to be very careful but I'm always afraid of that horrible experience of breaking the little
screw off the top of the valve - 'BANG! Psssss!' Then having to refit a new inner tube while being twice as scared it'll happen again. Misery.

Oh, and if that little screw thing is seized that's a bugger too.
