I know 50th Anniversary stuff is nice but ......

If I had a full 50th group but was missing one dust cover, I wouldn't be too concerned about 80 pounds for that piece. If it is the first part of a group, seems a lot dummer.

It all depends ... the price of anything collectable far exceeds its intrinsic value. Even if I had the money, i wouldnt pay millions for a classic car or painting, but some would.

The fact that some of the fashionistos have entered the retrobike market have pushed up prices. The days of owning retrobikes on the cheap, either because of sentimentally or because of equipment durability have gone. These days a used 21st alloy frame shod with used veloce ergo groupset is the far cheaper option

We aren't talking about millions here though, we are talking about 80 pounds for a part that you can't fabricate.

I paid £50 for a boys annual that I needed for my collection, I was an ebay newbie at the time (10yrs ago) and would have got it a lot cheaper if I'd bid high and late instead of bidding everytime I got outbid by the other interested party

I can see the next sale -

"just found another 50th anniversary dust cap......................"

Toast is "Mixte Version" brown round the edges and white in the middle. Damn electric toasters never work properly. £37 per slice (cos it takes 3 weeks 8days to heat it), then when you blink it burns it to a crisp ??? Offers now being taken on less than a grand (Tulio's face is still there though) :)
