Hi, just bought a Proflex 857 from Ebay, looks decent enough, has mainly XT bits but with some rather pooh Alivio V-brakes, has the Girvin fork and Noleen springs/shocks both ends.

Currently I have a 2007 Orange P7 with RC31's but decided I wanted a bit more "boing" plus the 1st full-sus bike I ever had a go on was a Proflex of some sort BITD, so it's on my list of "Bikes To Own Before I die"...

So, no pics at present but I could use a bit more info/links on the 857, like when were they made to/from? is the fork the Crosslink? Any areas I need to check for hidden damage?

I got it for a little over £200, so will ride it for the summer and see how I get on, whichever bike I prefer most will stay, and I'll sell the other to upgrade the one I keep :D

I always plan on doing that but then I get attached to both :|

Congrats on the new bike, I bought a Proflex about 2 weeks ago and I'm liking it heaps!

There are quite a few proflex's on here and in build at the moment

Also have a look at the iriders / proflex forum :)

WD :)

Welcome.

Your bike is a 1997, and should have the carbon swingarm. Does it look like this?

Ha ha! Indeed Sir it does look exactly like that ^^^^.

What's with the pics of the rear shocks with a (nitrogen?) resevoir on them?
and the couple I've seen with retro-fitted disc brakes?

Dammit! I've only been a member or Retrobikes for a week or so and already I've bought my first bike!

Thanks for the info so far.... off to do some research... ;)
