I have a cunning plan. Spa Audax

I bought a Spa Audax frame from eBay last year, I could not resist the £75 asking price for a Reynolds 725 frame with nice relaxed geo and enough space for 30mm tyres.
I built it up mainly with some old Ultegra bits from the parts bin, together with some very swish Ultegra carbon wheels that I had lying around.
It rides really nicely and is my favourite bike for tarmac rides, very comfy and responsive too, nicely balanced for what I need.
One problem though, the previous owner had slammed the stem and cut the steerer as low as possible allowing no spacers and it was just too low for my ageing back. I looked at Spa OEM fork and that cost twice as much as I paid for the bike! I looked at more cost effective solutions but finding an appropriate fork with a long steerer and spaced for long drop calipers was not fruitful.
Browsing eBay this morning in bed with my early morning cup of tea however this caught my eye.

Perfect, the same frame with an uncut steerer. Straight swap in a morning and new ride in the afternoon! Sell the old frame to recoup some of the cost, job done. What could possibly go wrong...

Here is the old girl after last Sunday's ride.
