I Hate My Bike 😵

Bikes that refuse to die! This is my 45 year old Peugeot Rockit pub bike. 1x1 gearing. You can generally hear it coming (bottom bracket), it does no more than 5km a week, and I hate the colours, but no one is ever gonna nick it. I perform absolutely zero maintenance on it, except the odd squirt of oil on the chain. I thought about buying a new rear tyre for it last year, but nah... I only paid 8 euro for the entire ensemble you see here.

I once used it to do a 50km 'fun ride'. Fun it was not, hills there were lots.

I never lock it up. Sometimes I wish someone would nick it, save me the bother of taking it to the dump!

Yeah it might be 1990. I've no idea the provenance, bought it at a boot sale, thought it looked more 80's than 90's. It was a kind of 'rescue dog' moment. It looked really sad covered in muck and rust, but as you can see it cleaned up nicely. Still hate the colours though. I got rid of the 21 speed gears pretty sharpish, as every single bit of the drive train was buggered. 1x1 is actually quite nice to ride.

This is another 'rescue bike', which we bought for my son's girlfriend. It's a Raleigh Mustang, in perhaps the ugliest colours possible. It all works though, and we paid 5 euro for it (bike stand is mine). It rides pretty well, but pulls to the left if you take your hands off the bars.

Moral of the story, ALWAYS keep your hands on the bars. Life too short to go through it with a pizza face

We are lucky to live in a town where no one will nick a shitey old bike!
