Looks like the Mavic Crossrides are still available? If so a couple of questions:

Are these suitable for rim brakes as well as discs?
and are they ok for a shimano 8 spd block?

They are still available, and in answer to your questionable:

These are the disc specific version so no rim braking surface. They will run 8 speed with a spacer behind the cassette.

If you are after rim brake only wheels, I may have some other options for you.

Hi Ian. A V Happy New Year to you and thanks for the info. These aren't for me if disc only. I managed to find a pair that will sort me so I'm good to go for now. Looks like a bargain for someone who runs discs though......
