How to wrap COTTON handlebar tape correctly?

Do you mean cotton adhesive tape like Tressostar ?

Await a flood of "correct" ways to do it, depending on wether you like it to end at the bar stops (and it frays on the top of the bars) or ending at the bar tops (and then the electrical tape holding it on comes undone)

There'a also the "figure of eight" cunnundrum behind the brake levers....

Sorry.........going off track. Is it adhesive?

Just opened the package, its Velox tressorex, and yes it seems to be adhesive

I would like to do it top-down, because it is the cleanest look,
but how do I do it at the top, that it wont come loose directly??

I've found that the Velox rolls of tape are quite short, becareful you don't run out before the end.. (Newbaulms is longer & has more colours)

I go top down, with a double wrap at the top to stop it fraying/coming undone without the need for plastic tape.

Consider how you ride.
Top down is as far as I am concerned much more likely to gradually move as your hand push against the exposed edges, especially when riding on the hoods. Cloth wears there and looks tatty sooner. Also in a small way muck and rain can hang against the ridges.
Just my findings though. How long do you expect tape to last?
