how to remove annodizing

Old way is some meths and a bit of fine(0000 grade) steel wool and plenty of elbow grease*.

* Can be substituted with Wrist Grease.

+1 for the caustic soda solution.

Be very careful of the fumes though. I made the mistake of inhaling some when I de-anodised an old set of cranks. Felt like my lungs were on fire

If you have plenty of time on your hands sun light

That only fades the dye, it's still anodised!

I tried baking powder once, it worked but made a right mess of the aluminium!

I've heard about bleach but never tried it.

I used oven pride oven cleaner on my Porsche fusch wheels it removed the anodising without any damage to the alloy what so ever
