just posted a wanted thread and someone replied however i couldnt find the direct msg function nor email, so I replied on the thread but i feel like im spamming the forum or break rules so lmk

You can use the profile posting, not conversations (we can all read but keeps it of the post and you can delete/edit later and very few actually notice them) or just use the thread that's what it is there for, it is not spamming.

Until PMs become available.

Oh and longun is a top bloke you can certainly trust.

Welcome and have fun, if you are here just to sell, don't read too many posts, it only leads to having a shed full of old shite.

You can still message, but until you have 5 posts you can only reply to a members message so you could ask the seller to message you. Or, like fluffychicken said above, just post on the thread, you could reply to this thread and the wanted one and you would then have 5 posts so be able to message the seller yourself ;) :)

Welcome Tom, seems like you've got the general Retrobike "I'm going to lose my shirt" mentality early on which is good. Have you conditioned your other half yet?

The inability to PM as a new member is a negative in the sense that it means that people have to share their private details in a public forum. Doesn't sit well with me.

I recommend throwaway emails for initial contact with a seller/buyer and then give them your details.

Once your details gets crawled its going to be a hell for you.

Also, I am not one to blame victims of scams, but not having PM available for new members is merely treating a symptom. New user scammers are typically automated setups, grabbing unto basic details of what you need and then going "Yes I have ______, very good condition, selling very cheap." Not hard to spot.

I like those types the most as you can see them on a forum literally using the same sentence but with various different products.

Also, if you are the type to post your email addresses in forums, get a nice secure one with a good filter. Like mailbox(dot)org
