How old is too old?

If you like what you do.
If your confident in your ability to do it.
If you are accepting of the risks involved.
Then your not too old ;)

Hey, I'm 64 also and I ride my bike at least 5-6 days a week in the woods around here. I broke my Humerus bone in a wreck last March, which put me off the steed for 2 1/2 months, but I worked hard and got back in shape quickly. Anyone who rides a bike is gonna fall off occasionally, and the more you ride, the greater your chances of it happening. It comes with the territory. I am planning to ride until I can't get my leg over the top tube!

This injury will only keep me off the bike for a month or so and, taking the inspiration from the repack gang, I'll definitely also keep on riding until I can no longer get my leg over!! Sorry, couldn't resist and hope the phrase means the same in the States.

If you cant step over the top tube get a step through. When your that old you'll not care if its a girls bike and you'll be too deaf to here the laughter anyway

That phrase was put to me years ago by a good buddy who, when asked what was the hardest part of riding a bike, said; "The hardest part of riding a bike is getting your leg over the top tube."--but yes, I know the alternate meaning, also. :)

When I used to work in a bike shop i used to meet all kinds of people, bike tramps going round the world in just a jacket and with a tabacco pouch, as company older couples who thought nothing of cycling up Snowdon in their 60's etc etc , and i'll aways remember the lady from parimiter cycles ? claims she had to cycle the perimiter of any country / county she went to...she was 74 when i met her , like a brown walnut and could no doubt out cycle me (then i was 30 + now 40 + ) do some yoga keep moving never loose the love of bikes, thats the key i think :D
