How old is my Peugeot?

I have a Peugeot Competition 3000 that I bought, but I'm not sure how old it is. I've had a quick search on Google and the closest I can find is one from 1996. Alot of the spec is the same, though the colour in the brochure is slightly different. Is it possible that they were scared to make it look purple? Someone with a bit more knowledge would be helpful to confirm this :)

I think it is bit earlier than 96.

The only thing I can see that's different from the spec of the in the brochure above is the rear brake/shifter, the tyres and the saddle. The rest, even down to the handlebar tape, is exactly the same. This makes me think it's either the colouring in the catalogue, or perhaps the previous year was a different colour? That's providing the groupset still looked the same

According to velobase RSX 7-speed is 1995 to 1999:
"RSX was introduced in 1995 and was positioned below the 105SC and the RX100 group sets. The original RSX series was 7 speed & later modified in 1999 as an 8 speed group."

I had this frame - mine was 1994

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread - just bought one of these in this colour and struggled to date it.

Mine's missing the STI brifters and has levers on the downtube, which didn't help either!

Re:

You're more than welcome. That won't help when it comes to identifying the year. I'm amazed mine has still got all the gears and shifters given how old it is!
