Even if you use it, it’s really for show innit.

Whatever the theoretical advantages might be those machined flanges are delicate. My XC one is an ornament in the living room, where it does it’s job perfectly - But I keep thinking I should dismantle the DH hub wheel as I can imagine the flanges cracking under the strain

Well they fitted the rear brake to the URT and found the pads were missing the rim by about an inch, and then went out for a pint instead.
