How many is too many? How do you warrant them all?

I had one bike that I barely rode and could barely change a tyre before finding this site :?
Now I have built these.....

Something just clicked...
And now I can't let go of my 'babies', what can I say.....

(the ones I sold were especially bought for other people so I had no chance of building an emotional attachment  )

25

Justify:
1 modern high zoot road
1 steel vintage road
1 full suspension
1 hard tail
1 tandem
1 retro klunker
1 period klunker
1 vintage bmx cruiser
1 prewar road
1 original owner from your youth
as many fillet brazed as you can find on local CL
as many Ritcheys as you can afford

Simple and justified: 25....

Always only had one "do it all" bike ever since Bitd mainly because of financial constraints :( but now its lack of storage space.

When it breaks it gets upgraded although at the moment i'm awaiting a frame upgrade purely cos i wanted one :D

Spread between 3 sheds at 3 different addresses (All have room left :) ):

2007 Viper sick Boy jump
2007? Be-one stellis xc (soon to go)
1997? Scott Team comp xc
1997 Marin Eldgridge grade ss
1990 Scott Boulder (in pieces and being sold)
1989 Raleigh Cobra (great fun..... hides from LGF)

Frames = Marin Muirwoods, Saracen xcell, some FS BSO thing that donates the odd part.

Wednesday I thought I definitely didn't need more than 8, but then I saw one a few miles away on ebay that was too tempting to ignore. It would be a shame not to have given it a new home at the price.

Anyway I've now decided that there's definitely no reason for anyone to need more than 9.

Got to log off as I'm just going to look at Gumtree - not buying, just looking

When I first became a member on here I thought some of you were slightly insane. The amount of bikes, seriously. Just did a little count and came up to 12
Nooooooo, I've become one of you ;)

I hear you reinster... i can feel myself falling down a slippery slope with two new arrivals in the past month!

Currently have just two in regular use, but all 5 are within tool-swinging distance:

- 1963 Carlton roadie rescued from uncle's garage and turned into a 3sp street hack/commuter.
- 1992/3 KHS Montana ready to go bar the final tune-up
- 1996 Orange Clockwork about one set of brakes and some cables behind the KHS
- 2009 Condor Italia Cross bike, set up for fast tours, but with a spare set of cross wheels
- Tommy the under-used Tandem

And a pile of bits.

I used to be just fine with my old 1992 Kona Fire Mountain. And then cycle-to-work happened and my shiny Condor arrived. And then the Kona got stolen.

I think I've been in mourning and needed many other bikes to fill that space!!
