How many is too many? How do you warrant them all?

Far from having a particularly extensive or interesting collection I do have more than one bike.

Whilst, for me, I acknowledge that owning just one bike is not realistic it means that owing a couple is going to stay that way for a while.

So how many do you have and how do you warrant them?

For me its:

➡️ Cotic Soul (10) - Out and out modern - great fun
➡️ Kona Caldera (99) - Singlespeed/verging on being retro
➡️ Diamondback Axis Pro (93) - Dedicated to retrobike duties
➡️ DMR Trailstar (97) - Pub, shop, gym bike

Going on the n + 1 route I am missing a bike but space is an issue

So then over to you :D

24 complete and a further 12 potentially
justification .......because i want them
tried to rationalise them , honest

Limited to 2 due to lack of space.

Though I do have the potential to store a couple more at work, but I'm resisting it.

➡️ Parkpre Pro Elite - got to have one of these. Rescued from a scrap pile.
➡️ Parkpre Pro Image - had it from new, my favourite bike.
➡️ Parkpre Team 925 - steel is real.
➡️ Specialized Rockhopper - Mrs Rekis bike that just happens to fit me, underated.
➡️ SS parts bin special - everyone should have one.
➡️ Rocky Mountain Vertex 50 - nearly handles as good as a Parkpre. Very pretty.
➡️ Trek Madone 4.7 - everyone should try a modern carbon road bike, need for speed.
➡️ Focus Mares CX - my winter road bike, keeps the carbon bike out of the winter filth. A very versatile frame, rides like steel.

➡️ On the sidelines - Parkpre Pro 825 frame NOS - waiting for the right build components.
➡️ Have 2 more which shall remain undercover until the time is right.

Can justify them all but getting short of space. They all get ridden, no room for queens in my garage.

I only have space for one bike, so I have one bike.

(However, I might be tempted to squeeze in one more fully rigid MTB just to fit slick tyres & use as an on-road bike)

3.

one for the mud

one for the tarmac

one build in progress.

Justification? I make the rules, justification enough I think

Complete, or close to it:

1981 Chris Chance
1982 Venus Finest Racer (NJS)
1984 3Rensho Super Record Export
1984 Bianchi Nuovo Alloro
1987 Trek Elance 400
1988 Fisher Mt Tam
1989 DiamondBack Apex
1990 Brave Warrior
1991 Team Fat Chance Yo Eddy
1991 Monster Fat
1991 Wicked Fat Chance
1993 Team Fat Chance Yo Eddy
1997 Salsa Ala Carte

2009 IF Crown Jewel......slowly but surely this is taking shape....

.....I have to admit that lately I have a hard time justifying them all!
(to say nothing of the frames. yeesh)

I don't warrant my bikes, there is no rationale

I do like building bikes and I do like riding each of my bikes. A lot actually.
I like excellence in engineering, design and perhaps most, craftsmanship.

I like riding with my mates and sharing thoughts with likeminded folks.

I like hunting for bikes, bits and/or bargains in obscure corners of the interweb ...

Enjoy!!
