Hot, Hot, Hot

You will get away with a 185mm fork steerer possibly with one 5mm spacer. On a '98 bike risers are perfectly acceptable ;)

Thats great if the forks fit. I have a 100mm 15deg rise thomson stem so that should fit well. Ive als got carbon low rise bars.

Its currently black but im going to get a disc tab brazed on canti mounts removed then bright orange (ford rs asbo) powder coat :) Sorry I know that wont please some. Not sure ill have time before mayhem though.

l saw a black '98 Hot frame in a cycle jumble in Steyning identical to mine a few months back. Could it be the same frame? lf so it was def a genuine Hot, l was amazed to see one so close to where l live when l had to get mine sent from California

Could be the one. Its from a guy who i saw at the ripley jumble a couple of weeks ago. I think he's jumble regular. To be honest i dont know much about retro bikes so am hoping that if the frame no starts kh that means its a hot? He seems a genuine guy.

There should be an "angency scum wrote" here but a havent worked that out yet

Hi Mark after i spoke to you i called a few more organizers and eventually found the guys mate. The frame i was after he sold earlier that day but then we got talking about the hot. Its more than i wanted to spend but im well happy. :D

Steerer-wise on my Kona with a 110mm head tube (18" Fire Mountain) I had a FSA Orbit MX with a 32mm stack height then about 20mm under the stem in terms of spacers. I was using a FSA XC-series stem which has a low stack height, 5mm less than a Ritchey WCS stem. The steerer was 198mm.

Just had a proper measure. My marin has a 100mm headtube, ive got 25mm of spacers under my stem. The stem is also 5mm above steerer which is as far as i want to go. I make my headset about 27-28mm. I think this means that ill need a 20mm headset if the hot has a 130mm headtube. :?

I love it, you get a disaster and end up with a dream bike...bit of a result that!

Still feel bad about the marin though. Its survived 19 years still with the original black paint, i have it a few months and kill it :(

Anyway back to the Hot :D Couldnt pick it up today due to work and family so will have it tomorrow. Spoke to chas, he said if i get it to him on sat he will have it ready the following sat 11th.
Powder coater said if they get it on the monday i can have it back on the wednesday the 15th.
That leaves a day before mayhem to get it built.
Its going to be close

Cheers SP.

Ill start a thread in the readers bikes tomorrow annd post some pics.

Not long till mayhem :D
