Hot, Hot, Hot

Smokes

Retrobike Rider
After a run of retro riding bad luck, the last of which resulted in a trashed front wheel and bent frame at the weekend ive finally got something to smile about. Ive just secured a 18" 98 kona hot :D

The only problem ive got now is getting it ready for Mayhem.
So what i need now is some help from the kona gurus as with less than three weeks ill need to source things quick.
Im hoping most things from the bent pine mountain will swap straight over but have the following Q's

BB size?
Head tube lenth/min steerer length (mines 185-190mm)
Front mech size?
Seatpost size?
Err any other things ive missed

Thanks Guys

I didnt think the hot was in the cats  .

What about the steerer lenght and bb width?

I wasnt going to mention discs  Thanks SP ;) Not sure ill have time now will phone roberts in the morning.

Looks like i might pick it up first thing tomorrow :D Seller said it has kh### frame no i hope that means its the real deal.

With your DX cranks a 68 / 118mm bb will be on the cards. Steerer length with an aheadset will be 200mm ish with just a small spacer. Seatpost will probably be something about 26.8mm.

Based on my Konas:

Seatpost will most likely be a 27mm (my various '94 through '98 all are).

Likewise, my steel ones all take a 28.6 front mech - top-pull bottom swing on my '98 Kila, though cable routing may dictate otherwise.

BB on all of them is 68mm.

HTH,

Hi Ted

Seat post is a use so a shim shouldnt be hard to find

200mm steerer may mean new forks :( or one of those really low headsets crank bros i think.

top pull bottom swing :?

Hmmm this could get costly

There might be some last minute building at mayhem.

BB is 113mm i think. Its a world class ti from around mid 90s. you can move it left or right abit to adjust chain line. I think ive got a royce ti one in a box of bits will measure that.

Didnt think of the forks though. Might have to put the kids on rations ;)

Cool, l have a '98 Hot. What colour is yours? Most later 853 Hots take a 27.2mm seat post. Looking forward to pics :)
