Hope or cane creek forty?

Both seem good headsets, but which one shall I lovingly press into my gt lightning?

Fancy doing something different than the ubiquitous chris king and I already have both.

Still undecided as to whether to build as m952 or perhaps modern kit. When I bought the bike it was running discs via an a2z adapter. Could put that back on.

Finishing kit will be ti bars, stem and post, might even drop on some ti onza bar ends and run the xtr remote bar end shifter if I go m952.

Fitting the headset seems like progress

But what colour are they, get the brightest on there.

Or Hope if they're both dull gunmetal grey or black.

Both black. Both bought already so comes down to better bearings and longevity.

Spent a bit of time reading up and Both get good reviews and real feedback. Many say buy cane creek over hope as it hits the magic cheap (ish)/light/strong and bearings are good, and pretty standard to replace.

The brit in me thinks hope, but the bike is USA, groupset Japan, ti finishing kit will probably be from USA or far east. Not a huge amount if brit going on.

Cheers. Still on the fence. Never had any issues with either. Will probably go hope but just fancied doing something different as builds usually have king or hope.

The forty is my go-to headset on all my builds. I had a very short lived hope hollowtech bottom bracket and snapped head doctor in a short space of one another, which made me question the quality. I was perhaps just unlucky!

Cc 40 is pretty rubbish. They come on 75% of the bikes I sell and if you're going to ride it outside in Britain, expect the bearings to last roughly 36 seconds.
