Not the monos, the last 2 piece caliper, shares the same lever as the mono etc.

Currently building the new runabout, which is a Cove stiffee.

Choice of brakes goes from mono to mono m4 to tech x2 to tech m4. The later ones are fine, but ive also picked up a new pair of mini's(PM,No3(+Ive a 3rd new No5) and was thinking of using them instead.

Anyone any experience of them can offer a review ? :)

Im thinking as theyre new, they should be ok for the use the bike will get. I'll be setting them on hope mini mono floating rotors 180/160mm

Re:

only reason I can think of for it not to work is the width of the breaking surface on the floating discs might not be big enough, pads might interfere with the alloy spider. But won’t hurt to Chuck it all together and see.

Aye, I meant to say I'd heard there were problems with the pistons on the mini, which was the main reason they went to those plastic pistons. Problems with jamming :? If its going to present probs later id rather not fit them and use something else. No point in ruining nos for nothing.
I'm just trying to cut out any future difficulty. Im not currently reacting well to difficulty :)

The rotors are to my knowledge mono mini, theyre the gold, so that model, which would work with the black m4 :? Just those have been sitting a while and im trying to cut down hassles by having to service things, and currently not feeling like that. I was hoping the minis would run ok. Admittedly id forgotten about the pad/rotor thing( )

Its a gold ano build and the black mono levers ive the new gold caps for.

On the subject of brakes, you wouldnt happen to have a pair of red Tech X2 lever blades in red would you ? :) I dont know, or think the newer tech 3 blades fit the older tech master cylinder, just dont fancy buying to find not despite their close resemblance. If you've a pair id be interested :)

I recently stripped down 2 sets of mini pistons, one alloy steel and one phenolic resin. The alloy ones were still good to perfect on one side and the slightly corroded at one spot (2mm □) but still useable. The phenolic ones were deformed by overheating from braking and consequently unuseable again. If you use a suitable grease to protect the alloy pistons on assy, you should be good for a long long time, just keep the jet wash away.

Re:

Sorry mate can’t help with the red anno (it is the best colour though) I’m afraid, all my stuff is stock black or silver. I do have tech3 and tech levers though so will try and swap them over to see if they fit. Might not be till the end of next week but happy to try.

That’s interesting, so basically keep them well serviced and the alloy are actually better.

Well the alloy ones survive mistreatment that's for sure. Even though I have spare phenolics, the alloy ones went back in. The deformed phenolics were actually stuck due to deformation from heat. Both of these sets were bought used on Ebay by the way. For my riding the alloy ones will be fine for a long time and I might just make some in stainless steel or Ti6-4v or even CP Ti.

Well thats a reversal of what id thought from Hope bumpf on their plastic pistons. but all for the good as the other choice of mono miniss are alloy piston. Maybe stick there as said see how it goes.

Would be great if you could swop over the blades to see :D Its the thing i want to do but for me that means at least buying a single lever on a trial and error. Google the other forums is inconclusive, though maybe just a few years and dropped off the page so to speak.
