As the title suggests, this hope ti-glide is in a bit of bother. I bought this in the “hope” of using some penetrating fluid and the freezer to break the bond/stichion and free the little blighter by drifting it through. Sadly it’s stuck, really stuck.

I have held off getting medieval on its backside thus far.

- soaked it in Wd-40 for a week
- popped it in the freezer over night
- tapped some of the axle through using a punch of the same diameter

now I don’t know what to try next as I’m scared of knacking the axle if I use anymore force. Anyone got any ideas? 0DA71EBA-D979-4034-B731-864A7E333E30.jpeg 217C6321-EEAB-48E7-A20C-79C31E090D14.jpeg BA40681F-7BF6-4860-AA31-8269C27FABCB.jpeg

I've had this problem a few times over the years on customers bikes in the workshop.

The drift technique you are using is what's been successful for me.
I have some vice clamps for axles to hold onto the axle without damaging it.
I've used a short length of metal rod with a slightly narrower diameter than the skewer as a drift. Using a hammer to gently tap it through the axle. Then a longer length rod or an old QR if required to push rest of the QR though.
No damage to the axle.

Maybe I'm wrong but freezing it will cause the metals to contract. I'm assuming the qr rod is steel in which case ali contracts twice the amount as steel so in fact cooling it will make it stuck even tighter. The opposite is true however with heat and the ali will expand twice as much as steel so maybe try some heat. If not I would use a drift as said above. I'm no expert just what I read on the web with regards to getting stuck ali seat posts out of steel frames.
