Hope brake questions.

Sorry if this appears somewhere else. Thought I had posted it but its not here!
Got a pair of Hope brakes I am playing with, Front caliper has 3 stamped on it and the rear a 5. Nowt else. What are they? Both resevoir caps have a moveable disc/knob. Whats that?
One piston on the 3 sticks but does twitch a bit. Any suggestions?
Both are IS mount and need to fit IS mounts on the bike. The front needs to be 160mm and the rear 140, are mounts about? Anything else I should know?

Bloody hell. First I have to find a camera, then its dark and I am nice and warm with a beer and the bikes in the shed, then I bet I can't upload direct and I'll have to open an account with something else.
Eventually then.

Sound like C2s. Movable disc on the top of master cylinder is to adjust distance between pad and rotor. C2 (closed) system is not self-adjusting like an open system.

Sticking piston needs massaging back to life - hold the opposite piston back (look at Hope's you tube footage about centring pistons to see how) and once sticky piston has come out a bit, clean it with cotton bud dipped in brake fluid, push it back and repeat. Over time, it should improve.

Your system is 185 front, 145 rear. Swap calipers around it it will be 165 both ways.

guess they will be for sale then when I get my act together.

never noticed 165 or 145 only 160 and 140. Make any difference?
I can't change discs.
As for the adjust thing, maybe they are a bit primitive??

IMHO C2s are the best brakes Hope did until the current Tech range, which is mindbogglingly good.

AFAIK, you can still get rotors for them in most sizes and drillings.

That's nice to hear. I'm servicing a set of C2s to use on my modern build, (for no other reason than I think they look absolutely fantastic).
