'A boy a girl & a bike' filmed in 1947 is on today (Sun 10th Feb) on Talking Pictures @ 5.20 (328 on our telly).
Simple little tale about trouble in a Yorks town & the local cycling club. Some lovely location shots & the above ladies to hold your interest. Worth recording for another view.

Look out for Jimmy Saville in a road race bunch!

Only found out about Talking Pictures a couple of days ago. Seems to be some interesting old films on there.

Regarding the title to this topic - what could possibly be better :D

Especially for an old giffer like me.................

Bikes provided by BSA. Some nice machines (only wish there were more close-ups), views of the Yorkshire Dales, and old, familiar faces (Bernard Hepton, Felix Dwyer, Megs Jenkins, Tony Newley etc). It's bound to be repeated on TPTV, and is available on youtube, anyway.

Interesting list of locations here -

https://www.reelstreets.com/films/boy-a ... -a-bike-a/

I thiought I knew some of them already - but now I realise I know a lot more, However, quite a lot of them have changed since1949!

Somewhere I have seen accounts of the 'real' cyclists who took part and how they were treated etc. Can't remember if it was online or in a book. If I find it I'll post it here. Some of the riders became stars in their own right - but on 2 wheels.

Apart from one James/Oscar 'The Duke' Saville of course!

For all those (like me) that missed this it's back on the same channel on Saturday the 16th at 09.15, so recorder at the ready for me.

Re:

Thanks a lot for the reelstreets link Ned - I'd forgotten that website. If you like Diana try & see `Yield to the Night' which is pretty heavy going but shows she had more to offer as an actress than the obvious glamour.
