Homemade trailer hitch work stand,

I made this today from my junk stash. Here in the USA the most common hitch receiver sizes are 1 1/4 and 2 inches. I don’t know if it’s the same in the UK? I have a vehicle with both receiver sizes and a bicycle hitch hauler. This “T” I made fits them all. Cost was 0, but I had to order a bench mount arm that will be modified to fit both sides of the “T”. The bench mount arm is the same brand as the pictured wall mount arm. I’ll have 40 GB pounds invested and I won’t have to do field repairs on an upside down bike. The part that’s facing down in the second picture fits in the two inch receiver and the part that’s up fits the bike hauler. In the last photo the unattached square tubing will have a bike arm mount and a bolt on one will be made for the 1 1/4 inch one. It will be stored inside the vehicle until it’s needed.

The adapter before a mounting plate was welded on covering the shims, giving the 1 1/4 inch receiver bar a tight fit, no wobbling when a bike is in the stand. I’m going to weld on three more feet of 2 inch square tubing onto the adapter to make the bake repair arm four and a half or 5 feet off the ground, depending on which vehicle it’s on.

Tow hitches are not like that in the uk. Flat faced with 2 bolts to hold the ball on. Neat idea though.

I welded stabilizers on it. It now works on hitches, a concrete floor and dirt by driving a pipe or rod through the hitch pin hole into the dirt. It’s very stable, hard to move the base.
