Hiya just wondering what people do for protecting thier prides and joy and house stuff. Anyone who has added expensive bikes on to home quotes or price comparisons will notice that the results and prices are dramatically different depending on if you add loads of bikes or few or none.
Being in Manc already adds a we load to quotes...

Bikes and perhaps creative electronics are the biggest risk I have all the other stuff would prob get left.
Last time I asked about contents insurance elsewhere M&S came up as a suggestion, any others to mention or tips on searching/quoting? the cover of Bikes and cameras are always quite wooly.

I got a great quote from direct line but No bike cover at all on that bare bones policy! with that kind of cover it goes up 5 times!

Theres cycle only specialists policies. Suppose I could take some of those out but adding those up gets costly. So far adding 3 bikes total of £1500 makes insurance just for bikes £172, blimey

No doubt i can get a solution on this but thought it would be valuable to swap notes on getting good affordable cover cos emotionally losing our P&J's would be enough without the financial loss!

Cheers

I was with Direct Line for a few years, but discovered that they only underwrote bikes specified in the policy to a value of £1000.
As my fleet increased to four bikes the £1000 value seemed to be a little low, so I looked into separate bike insurance for my more valuable bikes, but this proved to be prohibitive.
I am now with Marks and Spencer for my home insurance, the quote was competitive and am now covered for items up to £4000 in value.
I recently rode my Viner Sidus road bike into the back of a car and cracked the headtube, I called M&S advised them what I had done and within 2 weeks I had a cheque for the replacement frame less my £100 excess.
In all I am quite pleased with them.

Hope this helps.

Roger

I got quoted heading toward £900 per annum for my collection insured through cycle insurance people.

I havn't looked at the home option yet.

+1 for M&S :D They cover all my bikes as un-named valubles upto £4000,that doesn't meet the value of some of them but was told if they were stolen I could claim individually for things like carbon wheels etc.
